IPL 2026 – First 5 wicket haul Mohsin Khan vs KKR

The IPL 2026 encounter between the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on April 26 was a low-scoring thriller at the Ekana Stadium, lucknow where both teams finished their 20 overs tied at 155. It was KKR eventually who clinched the victory in the thrilling super over context which was also the first for this edition of IPL 2026. It was rare bowling special day so far in this edition of IPL where we have been consistently witnessing 200+ totals in most of the games. In this edition of IPL 2026 - first 5 wicket haul has been taken by Mohsin Khan. He recorded his IPL Career best numbers of 5/23 in his spell of four overs.

Mohsin started beautifully pitching ball in right line & length dismantling the KKR top order during the Powerplay where he dismissed Tim Seifert (caught at cover) and KKR captain Ajinkya Rahane (outsmarted by extra bounce). After initial couple of wickets, he was called back by captain Pant to break partnership between Rovman Powell & Cameroon Green. He dismissed Powell with a sharp bouncer and later dismissed Cameron Green just as he was beginning to look threatening.  He sealed his maiden IPL fifer on his final delivery by dismissing Anukul Roy (Ayush Badoni took catch). His spell included a wicket-maiden over, contributing to an impressive economy rate of 5.75 for the match

Some of the key Milestones which were set by this bowling performance :
1. Season Milestone: Mohsin  became the first player of IPL 2026 to take a five-wicket haul.
2. Franchise History: He is only the third bowler to take a fifer for the Lucknow Super Giants, joining Mark Wood (5/14 in 2023) and Yash Thakur (5/30 in 2024).
3. Historical Rarity: He became the third bowler in IPL history to take five wickets against KKR, following Jasprit Bumrah and Yuzvendra Chahal in 2022.

This performance is particularly significant as Mohsin missed entire IPL Season 5 following major shoulder surgery to remove blood clot. This has been one of the phenomenal bowling figures in IPL 2026 by Mohsin Khan. In the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) through April 2026, only three bowlers have ever taken six wickets in a single match. Alzarri Joseph holds the record for the best overall bowling figures, achieving a historic 6/12 on his debut for Mumbai Indians in 2019. While many bowlers have achieved a single five-wicket haul, only a few have managed to take more than one in their IPL careers. While many bowlers have achieved a single five-wicket haul, only a few have managed to take more than one in their IPL careers, Jasprit Bumrah, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, James Faulkner & Jaydev Unadkat  share the record for the most five-wicket hauls in IPL history with 2 each.
